Featuring a lovely small GRANITEWARE TEA KETTLE in speckled blue and white.
The small tea kettle measures about 5" high with the lid by 7 ½” across handle to spout and is in wonderful vintage condition with minimal rust and chips, primarily on the lid finial. They are not visibly noticeable, but if you look really close there appears to be some bumps in the porcelain on the side of the little pot. This is a very cute piece, especially for someone who enjoys a cup of tea.
Enamel & Granite Ware
Enamelware is made from an old process of coating metal with porcelain, which became popular in the 1800s. By the late 1870s, a new form of enamel ware was developed, called "granite ware."
Graniteware was designed with decorative patterns resembling granite, ranging from mottled, speckled, spatters or swirls. Early granite ware included patterns in turquoise blue with white and green. Both enamel and granite ware were used in the production of early kitchen utility ware.
